NHL Rumors and Speculation
- Shug McSween (NHLTradeRumors.me): Commenting on the Pierre-Luc Dubois/Anaheim Ducks rumors had this idea to propose,
- “Columbus could think more long term and consider prospects in the trade. Perhaps the likes of Jamie Drysdale or Jacob Perreault or if they want some young immediate impact they could look at World Junior stand out Trevor Zegras. High-end skill with a sense of swag and a ton of potential, Zegras is someone the Jackets should target.”
- Jim Parsons (NHL Trade Talk): The New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens might be worth keeping an eye on when it comes to other team’s interest in disgruntled center Pierre-Luc Dubois over the next few months.
- Pierre LeBrun – “It might be easier to name the teams that won’t end up calling Columbus.”
- Gavin Lee (Pro Hockey Rumors): Is saying that there could be a few NHL teams with unsigned RFAs that are under the gun to get deals done before their players are ineligible to play in 2020…
- “It’s less than a month between the start of the regular season and the RFA signing deadline of February 11 in this unique, shortened campaign. That means for Jack Roslovic, Jesper Bratt, and, most importantly, Mathew Barzal, the clock is ticking. If they are not signed by that date, they cannot play this season at all.”
- Kevin Allen (Hockeybuzz): Lists out his top-ten most intriguing rookies for the upcoming 2020-21 season. Amongst the names were a couple of Russian goalies and five players who recently competed in the 2021 World Juniors.
- Amalie Benjamin (NHL.com): Tuukka Rask said he intends to finish his NHL career with the Boston Bruins.
- “I have no intention to play anywhere else than the Bruins,” Rask said Wednesday. “So if I’m good enough to play one, two, three more years, then so be it. If not, then so be it. So that’s where my head’s at.”
- Tom Gulitti (NHL.com): Matt Dumba said he expects speculation that he might be traded to continue throughout this season, but the defenseman made it clear Thursday he wants to remain with the Minnesota Wild.
- “It’s something at first you get kind of worked up about it,” Dumba said. “You’ve been in Minnesota so long and thinking about change scares you. This is where I want to be. I don’t want to move nowhere.”
