NHL Rumors and Speculation
- David Schoen (Las Vegas Review-Journal): Max Pacioretty addressed rumors that he might be moved by the Vegas Golden Knights to free up cap space. Noting he was unconcerned about whatever rumors exist Pacioretty said,
- “I played in Montreal for 10 years, so this is lightweight stuff.”
- Black and Gold Hockey: Would you trade Max Pacioretty for Jake DeBrusk?
- Jesse Granger (The Athletic): Has dismissed the latest Pacioretty to Boston rumors,
-
- “For cap-strapped teams like Vegas and Boston, young, cost-effective players like DeBrusk are valuable. I don’t see Boston swapping him for Pacioretty, and especially not throwing in 22-year-old Senyshyn and a draft pick.”
-
- Tim and Sid Show (Sportsnet): Mitch Marner is excited about the team’s recent additions and said specifically that he’s looking forward to skating with NHL veteran Joe Thornton.
- TSN: Seattle Kraken CEO Tod Lieweke is glad ownership allowed them to get to work on the club early with regards to hirings,
- “If we had been a little more traditional with our hiring process we would have been scrambling because the season got completely bifurcated,” Leiweke said. “We could have very well been in the market now, scrambling to find a GM. So enormous credit due to our owners for allowing us to do things early and do them right. And little did we know how important this decision would be.”
- TSN: The Minnesota Wild signed veteran goalie Andrew Hammond to a one-year, two-way contract worth 700k on Wednesday and announced that goaltender Alex Stalock is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury.
- Joe Haggerty (Boston Hockey Now): Joe Haggerty wonders if it’s time for the Boston Bruins to move on from former captain Zdeno Chara.
- Forever Blueshirts: On the Chara to the Rangers rumors,
- “I’m not saying anything about the Chara rumor other than I haven’t heard it and currently not making any headway on it. Is it possible the Rangers reached out prior to signing Jack Johnson? Sure, why not? He is after all a left handed defenseman and the Rangers need that. At this time, however, there’s no room due to performance bonuses.”
- Travis Yost (TSN): How goaltender Frederik Andersen performs this season will impact whether the Toronto Maple Leafs extend him or trade him.
- “Andersen wasn’t the only problem for the Maple Leafs, but he was a problem.”
