NHL Rumors and Speculation
Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) says GMs around the league don’t buy that Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is selling. They believe he’s made a push for Nashville Predators d-man Mattias Ekholm.
- Friedman also thinks that the Toronto Maple Leafs have checked around on goaltenders but there has to be a sensible deal there.
- Marc Staal (DET) could be a trade target of the Philadelphia Flyers according to Friedman.
- There’s been a little bit of action of Canucks defensemen Jordie Benn and Travis Hamonic.
- Dustin Brown (LA) could be someone that the New York Islanders look at.
- David Savard (CBJ) probably won’t return to Columbus next season.
- The Blue Jackets might not want to move Nick Foligno (CBJ) by the deadline, even if he’s not extended by then.
- The Colorado Avalanche probably aren’t done adding yet.
- Minnesota Wild defenseman Ian Cole has fit in really well with the team and they might want to extend him.
- San Jose Sharks enforcer Kurtis Gabriel will probably get a one-way contract next season.

Ken Wiebe (Sportsnet) says the Winnipeg Jets could have trade options in Buffalo’s Rasmus Ristolainen and Josh Manson of the Anaheim Ducks.
James Cybulski (Sportsnet) says the Vancouver Canucks have talked to the Florida Panthers about a trade that could include winger Jake Virtanen and defender Markus Nutivaara.
