NHL Rumors and Speculation
David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period): “The consensus seems to be that a 2nd round pick, a prospect, and a third asset will end up being the final price to acquire Taylor Hall from the Buffalo Sabres.
Frank Seravalli (TSN): “The Edmonton Oilers have their eye on a very specific piece at a very specific price. That’s a right-handed center who can take (and win) faceoffs on the penalty kill. How about Luke Glendening (DET), Brandon Sutter (VAN), or Derek Ryan (CGY)? They’d like to do it for a 4th round pick.
Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet): “I thikn there’s been interest in Jordie Benn… We know they’ve been trying to move Jake Virtanen and I think there’s some action around Adam Gaudette. They’re trying to work on something here.
- “College UFAs, a guy who’s getting the most attention this year is Matt Kiersted, a defender out of North Dakota. The other one is the captain, Jordan Kawaguchi. Believve there could be some teams that decide to go after him pretty hard.”
- “Maple Leafs are not actively looking for a goalie. I think Carolina did ask the Canucks about Travis Hamonic but he isn’t going. He’s not going to be waiving his NTC this season.”
- “I think Kevyn Adams’ phone is ringing off the hook with all sorts of things. A lot of focus on Taylor Hall, a lot of teams checking in. One of them, I’m wondering if it can work for cap reasons, is St. Louis. The Blues all of a sudden are having trouble scoring.
Darren Dreger (TSN): “There were trade discussions between Columbus and Calgary that involved, I believe, Sean Monahan and Sam Bennett. I think Josh Anderson would’ve been part of the return package (and maybe something else). In hindsight, Treliving probably wishes he pulled the trigger on it.”
If Dylan Holloway does end up leaving Wisconsin (NCAA) and heading to Bakersfield (or Edmonton), I don't expect he'll play right away.
Sounds like he was dealing with an injury in Wisconsin's games leading up to their elimination from the NCAA Championships. #LetsGoOilers

Before the Edmonton media and Elliotte Friedman made it public, I tweeted this out because Bob Stauffer was sending out some cryptic messages on his radio show this past week about how Dylan Holloway wasn’t taking faceoffs in one game and then almost missed the game where Wisconsin was eliminated from the NCAA Championships in. Everybody who pays attention would’ve been able to guess this and It only made sense that he was hurt and the drop in form obviously affected his team’s ability to win.
I do believe it was reported that he had a broken thumb. Depending on the severity of the injury, he could be out for up to six weeks which would put him in a position to join either the Oilers for their playoff run or Bakersfield’s.
