NHL Rumors and Speculation
Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) believes that Kevyn Adams is at the very least listening to pitches for captain Jack Eichel.
- The Boston Bruins have been linked to Taylor Hall.
- If the Toronto Maple Leafs need a defenseman, Dallas Stars blueliner Jamie Oleksiak could be considered.
- “I was surprised that no one took a chance on Evgeni Svechnikov (DET). He’s available for trade.”
- “This is now on the backburner, but the Canucks did begin conversations with Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson. It’s still early in the process.”
David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period) says the Calgary Flames will likely take a look at Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel this off-season.
- Johnny Gaudreau may be playing his last season in Calgary.
- Darcy Kuemper’s name has started popping up lately even with the Arizona Coyotes in a playoff spot.
- The St. Louis Blues are looking to make a “hockey trade” with defenseman Vince Dunn.
Kevin Kurz (The Athletic) says there has been very little interest in San Jose Sharks forward Patrik Marleau. It’s more likely he finishes the season in San Jose.
- The Washington Capitals, Edmonton Oilers, and Colorado Avalanche are potential landing spots for Devan Dubnyk.
- Perhaps Dallas Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin could be a potential fit for the San Jose Sharks.
Frank Seravall (TSN) heard from a team out East that the LA Kings have taken calls on Sean Walker but at this point in time, they’re not interested in moving him.
- The Calgary Flames are taking calls and have received interest on goale David Rittich. It’s been a little quieter for Derek Ryan and other pending UFAs. All things point to a quiet deadline for Calgary.
Pierre LeBrun (TSN) says the Blues are open to moving some pending UFAs and winger Mike Hoffman would be one of them and maybe Tyler Bozak would be another.
- The Anaheim Ducks are listening, they’ve had a few calls on Josh Manson but teams are going to have to step up. The cost is allegedly a first round pick and a top prospect but that hasn’t stopped the Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes from showing interest.
Aaron Portzline (The Athletic) says a source has indicated to him that forward Nick Foligno would be open to re-signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the summer after he’s had a chance at the Stanley Cup with another club.
Chris Johnston (Sportsnet): “I don’t think Taylor Hall is going to be on the market through to Monday. It seems as though the pace of trade talks has picked up speed… He’s done playing for Buffalo and now it’s about trying to pit the few teams in the sweepstakes against each other.
Bruce Garrioch (Post Media) says Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion has the assets that might help a contender, and though he has been working the phones, the belief is that he won’t be very active at the trade deadline.
