Oilers Drop the Ball With New 3rd Jerseys! Here are Three Better Alternates

This morning the Oilers released their new “3rd” jerseys that they will wear four times this upcoming season but the funny thing is, when I look at the uniform I feel like I’ve seen it before and by that I don’t mean from the glory days when Gretz and Mess were winning Stanley Cups in them,..

Lazy lazy lazy… They had the opportunity to not only rake in a shite ton of cash but to impress a fan base that isn’t quite happy with the team at the moment as well as potentially acquire new fans. But they blew it summoning the ghosts of Oilers past…

Here are three jersey designs that are a helluva lot better than going back to the glory days…

I think this is a fine looking color scheme. I do like this dark blue and white that they’re going with recently but I’m not the hugest fan of the bright safety vest orange.  It’s something I can accept as better than what the Oilers released this morning though.

I think Edmonton and the fans of the Oilers, old and new, would’ve been 100% behind a modernized version of this uniform. It’s sharp and the colors contrast in just the right manner. If they could find a way to bring back those gloves and that hairstyle, I think this would be the unanimous winner amongst the three uniform options I’m showing you today.

I wasn’t a massive fan of this uniform when it was released but as a 3rd jersey and a throwback for a year where they only wear it four times, I’d support this without question. They could touch it up a bit and give it a more modern look but for the most part, THIS design is the true retro option.

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

Things are about to get rolling here folks and the fact that we saw Darnell Nurse on the ice without a contract is a plus, I don’t imagine his agent would be happy with that, and that a healthy Tyler Benson was out there too! That’s great for the former Vancouver Giant!

This season is going to be awesome and I can’t wait for it to start! I’m not going to do my predictions until I know the roster is somewhat set though. I think there might be a surprise or two before the Oilers’ first game of the year roster-wise and I want to reserve judgment until then,
