NHL Rumors and Speculation
- Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet): Columbus Blue Jackets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to play on a bigger stage. The trade request seems irreversible at this point.
- Mike McIntyre (Winnipeg Free Press): Wonders if the Jets and Blue Jackets could get together and make a deal that would involve Dubois, Patrik Laine, and Jack Roslovic?
- Lyle Richardson (Spector’s Hockey): Reckons that it’s very likely that Roslovic has played his last game with the Jets.
- Anthony Scultore (Daily Goal Horn): The New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild were three teams that inquired on Roslovic
- Fluto Shinzawa (The Athletic): Brad Marchand and Kevan Miller are expected to play for the Boston Bruins on opening night.
- Jon Abbot (TSN): The Vancouver Canucks will look to sign prospect Vasili Podkolzin when his KHL contract expires at the end of April.
- Jason Gregor (TSN): Edmonton Oilers forward James Neal is questionable for the team’s season opener on Jan.13th. He’s not expected to be out long-term.
- Ben Kuzma (Vancouver Sun): Michael Ferland’s career could be in jeopardy due to post-concussion syndrome symptoms.
- Josh Yohe (The Athletic): Pittsburgh Penguins forwards Sam Poulin and Nathan Legare will likely make the taxi squad out of training camp.
- “They’re both here for a reason,” he said. “We’ll see where they are and go from there. And of course, the other part of this is, we have a taxi squad now. So there are a lot of options for us.” – GM Jim Rutherford
- Dan Kingerski (Pittsburgh Hockey Now): Believes that based on what Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan has said, Poulin and Legare could force Jim Rutherford to make a trade. Akin to what happened last season with John Marino.
- “I think we have a pretty good track record that suggests we believe in them. A guy like John Marino is an example…,” Sullivan continued. “He earned his way into the lineup, and Jim had to make some moves to facilitate that process.”
