It’s about that time of year where we start to get some jersey leaks for the following season and even though we’ve heard pieces of info here and there regarding some new Edmonton Oilers uniforms for the 2020/21 NHL season, the fine people who are most responsible for digging up this stuff have offered an update.
According to icethetics.com,
Could Throwback Return?
SPECULATION If throwbacks are indeed the name of the game with the new fourth jersey system, the Oilers already have an Adizero version of theirs ready to go. It was most recently worn during the team’s 40th anniversary season in 2018-19. Could it be back?
The other thing that icethetics notes is that some teams will employ a fourth jersey. “Throwbacks with a twist” is how they put it. Now, what I’m hoping is that they finally go with some of the designs that have been published by independent designers online. My current favorite looks like this,
There’s also the option to go back to the Todd McFarlane jersey. I wouldn’t mind that at all! As long as they debut it on Ryan Smyth jersey retirement night!
What do you think?
Covid-19 Talk
Well, there’s not really much to say at this point other than I hope that all of you are doing the right thing and listening to the health authorities’ advice. We’re all in for about a month of real challenges, right?
Now, I’m no doctor in any way, shape, or form, but here’s some of my own advice from what we’ve gone through over here in Taiwan,
Here’s the trick to staying sane through all of this though, don’t leave the TV on the news and the web browsers on any site that’s offering live updates on the numbers. Relax on the social media because that’s going to be inundated with misinformation. If you don’t, you’ll go nuts and anxiety will completely take over. My wife constantly has the TV on the news and it drives me crazy.
Mental health during this pandemic is going to be very important. Don’t neglect it.
We’re in the process now and we’ve got to go all the way through it and it’s going to take some time. Just make sure you’re washing up, avoiding large crowds, and checking in on the news once or twice a day just to make sure you’re up to date. If there’s something that’s so very important to the public, you’ll hear about it because someone will let you know. From a friend or family member most likely. Don’t let the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) get ya!
If you do feel under the weather, simply contact the necessary authority. Don’t go running around town because if you do have something, you’re more apt to spread it. Stay home, call someone and do what they say. If you feel like things are dire, don’t panic first off. There’s a high recovery rate from this, but I would think that you should give the hospital a call and let them know you’re coming in. If you’re able to, of course. That might be easier in the smaller communities than the larger ones. This is the time when a surgical mask is very helpful as it’ll help prevent you from spreading your germs. And no, I do not believe you can fashion one out of toilet paper should you have a surplus of shi*t tickets…
All that said, It’s probably a good time to take up a hobby, start that home exercise program you’ve been putting off, doing some repairs around the house, or anything of the such. Tantric Sex could be an option as well. Don’t get stuck on the sofa though eating chips! Gotta keep that immune system strong!
Tell you what I’m gonna do while hockey is on break, I’ve got the NHL ’94 all ready to go and I’ll probably delve into that a little bit while the NHL is suspended (I may even post some stuff on the YouTube Channel). I think I’m going to try my hand learning how to play some synthesizer as I bought a few different toys to fiddle about with. I love me some ambient music sometimes! Also, I’ve always been a fan of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and now that I’ve done some research on the ol’ Spotify, I’ve found artists like Cliff Martinez and John Carpenter.
I’ll try to keep up the Oilers-related content, but to be honest, I don’t know how much there’s going to be and I’ve grown tired of the breaking news posts lately. If there’s something notable, I’ll most likely publish something on it, but I can’t bear to bring you daily Corona Virus updates as they pertain to hockey… Maybe we’ll leave that to TSN or Sportsnet.
If anything, we’ll try to have some fun with the posts and maybe ramp up some draft coverage.
The Instagram account will be going Monday to Friday as best as we can keep it running! So head over there if that’s your bag and also I’ll jump in on Twitter from time to time.
Until the next game! You take care, folks!
